Dare to Dream: The New President

Posted by myGPT Team | 3:20 AM | 0 comments »

My life events are not unique. Just listen to the passion
of the 2008 campaign as people struggle within the greatest
country of modern times. Many have lost homes, retirement
savings, jobs, and health benefits. They may lose more if
their marriages or health do not survive the stress.

I was blessed with a twenty year marriage, successful
career, and a beautiful daughter. Then the next 5 years
brought divorce, the suicide of my ex-spouse, single
parenting, the death of my father, health issues for me and
my Mom, job loss, and astronomical private health premiums.
And now? I am a small business owner in the midst of an
economic recession!

In reality, it is unusual to have a lifetime of challenge
compressed into so few years, and it compounds the
consequences. Similarly, had the current confluence of
issues facing the United States arisen singularly and
separated by sufficient time, we may have managed without
the avalanche effect of the past few weeks. The combination
triggered a loop of fear and uncertainty, destabilizing our
economy. It was not a pebble, but a boulder that crashed
into the global pond.

Through the lens of my life, I see lessons on a larger
scale for us as a nation. Losses that could have
overwhelmed in fact awakened me. Had each experience been
spread over, say 20 years, I would not have been so
compelled to found a company to help people grow through
their own transitions. My passion was ignited, and became a
catalyst for Springboard™, so named to describe the
power of using life's lowest points as a launching point
for creating a new, often better life.

This election will set the course for the next four years.
Many worry that our golden days are behind us, but what if
this low point initiated a period of innovation and growth?
The fact that we are in debt, at war, and in housing and
financial market crises may very well be sufficient
incentive to park fear and dare to solve problems we have
ignored, such as energy innovation, restoring our
environment and rehabilitating social programs. We were
inspired and emboldened to meet Kennedy's challenge to land
on the moon. Belief is half the battle, so what if we dared
to believe? Isn't that what our founding fathers did?

Let's make our current crisis a new beginning to fuel
collaboration and exceed expectations. A crisis transforms;
without challenge to the status quo, there is no compelling
reason to risk change, make transcendent leaps or fully
challenge beliefs. Our untapped potential includes
involving all Americans in caring and contributing to a
rebirth. We strayed from the fundamentals that built our
economic and world leadership strength. By tapping our full
capacity of innovation and ingenuity, we can channel
current fear and anxiety into shaping a richer future than
we would have otherwise achieved.

It is said that people change when their fear of not
changing is greater than their fear of change. In this
election, people understand each voice matters, and they
are mandating a complete redirection in leadership. Our new
President must guide and compel, and it may be years before
we declare this "mission fully accomplished".

I believe we will reflect on this critical point in our
nation's course as a time when we accepted and exceeded the
challenge. Unlike the era surrounding our nation's birth,
we have a diverse cultural compilation of human experience
in endurance, plus technology and innovation which
strengthens our chance for success. Let's not settle for
merely surviving our current crises. My hope is that we
mine this opportunity to secure a sound legacy for our
children, and in unleashing our true potential, create a
future that is uniquely American.

Obamanomics

Posted by myGPT Team | 8:40 PM | 0 comments »

Let me first start off by saying I to grew up a Chicago
area Southside native. I understand blue colar politics
and what a "real" Regan Democrat is. I have seen first
hand the train wreck that welfare and social handouts have
caused.

I grew up having to live as a child for a few years on
welfare and foodstamps...Thank God i had a Mom with pride!
She taught us that no handout will ever get you up and out
of your current situation. Now with that said lets take a
real look at Obamanomics.

1. It's the classic class warfare system of pitting anyone
better then you as the bad guy. If they are Rich thats why
you are poor. This non-sense failed and shortsighted
thinking is what creates a poor class that has no desire to
work for more or even work for the handout they get. (I can
say this having lived it!).

2. Spreading wealth in short means someone other then the
business owner or person that earned the income will decide
how it is best spread around. It assumes that people can
only get by in life if Robin Hood (Obama) steals and then
gives. In short it's a short term bandaid that mis-leads
the person getting the gift into thinking government will
always have a few crumbs to give the little guys.

3. Obamanomics assumes thats we can't help being poor, or
having less then the rich person does. That life does not
rward hard work, ideas and drive. That it's all luck of
the draw and Uncle Sugar has the even the score. yet again
enforcing the false notion that rich is bad and you're poor
becuase someone else succeeded.

4. It will fail! You can't just keep taking to give $500
and $1000 checks once a year and expect that the business
person making it possible will keep working for others.
You also can't pull anyone out that won't work and dream
big because you paid them a $1000 extra each year.

In short Obamanomics is a policy of failure not the hope it
portends to be. Anyone can steral from someone, then
pretend to be a hero by giving it someone else not as well
off. In the end it's still just theft! Belive in your
dreams and set goals. Make your way in life not let anyone
tell you that you need a handout and only they can save
you. The minute you realize that you are better then the
lie thats been told to you. That you are great, you can
succeed and you and no one else controls your dreams you'll
already be rich!

Call me "Vic the Veteran", but know this. Not since the
beginning of time has anyone lived well off the handouts of
others. Freedom is not free and there are no free lunchs!

Is Barack Obama Really A Socialist?

Posted by myGPT Team | 4:50 AM | 0 comments »

Have you heard the latest smear tactic from the
McCain/Palin/Fox News campaign team? You know, that one
about Barack Obama being a so called "socialist." Guess
what, it doesn't have anymore truth do it then their other
smears like that Obama "pals around with terrorists."

It's important to realize that the entire basis of this
"socialist" smear is that Obama want's to allow the Bush
tax cuts for the very rich to expire. The very same tax
cuts that McCain voted against in 2001 and 2003.

By McCain's logic guess who else is a socialist? John
McCain in 2003! Does that mean McCain is now a reformed
socialist?

The entire argument centers on the idea that Obama's tax
plan which calls for tax cuts for the majority of Americans
and raising taxes on the very rich is somehow something
very different and very new for America. This is not true.
America has had a progressive tax code for a very long
time. As has every other Western country. There is nothing
new about a progressive tax code.

Furthermore every tax "redistributes" wealth. That's the
very nature of taxes. Unless John McCain is for no taxes at
all (and how could he pay for his wars without taxes?) then
McCain is also a "redistributer."

Are you beginning to see just how ridiculous this
"socialist" smear really is? It's a complete distortion of
reality. They know that. What they are hoping for is that
the average American voter is too stupid to realize they
are being lied to (again.)

To make even more clear how stupid the socialist attack is
consider this: Obama's proposed tax code would include
lower taxes on the rich than there were during most of
Ronald Reagan's Presidency. Do you think the rich were
hurting in the 1980s? Do you think that Ronald Reagan is a
socialist too?

By the McCain/Palin definition everyone (this side of Ron
Paul) is a socialist. It's an absolutely dishonest and
meaningless attack.

Another important point is that America does have socialist
programs. Programs like Social Security & Medicare. And
guess what, when these programs were introduced those on
the right (Republicans) derided these programs as
"socialist." How have they worked out? Would you like
Social Security & Medicare to be done away with? How about
Public Education? Isn't that socialist too? How about
police departments? How about firemen? There are a lot of
things about America that are "socialist" and guess what,
most people rely on those socialist institutions in some
way or another.

The dishonesty of this attack only proves once again how
similar a McCain/Palin admin. would be to a Bush/Cheney
admin. Not only are they exactly the same on all of the
important issues but they tell the same kind of lies.
